Iowa Man Apprehended After Fleeing From Jail
A DWI arrest got a lot worse for an Iowa motorist after he decided to walk away from the booking area of the Scotland County Sheriff's office on Tuesday morning. Joshua J, Labrasca, 33, of Donnelson, IA, was initially arrested at around 10 a.m. following a traffic stop near Arbela.
Labrasca was ticketed for speeding and driving while intoxicated, his fourth offense.
He was transported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol to the Scotland County Sheriff's Office for booking. Labrasca allegedly provided false information during the booking process, and later walked away from the facility at approximately 11:50 a.m.
According to court documents, a passing motorist provided Labrasca a ride back to his vehicle, near the Catfish Place.
The Sheriff's Office immediately notified the Highway Patrol and the Memphis Police Department of the escape attempt. An officer from the Memphis Police Department was at the scene of the parked vehicle when Labrasca arrived and he was taken into custody without incident at 12:24 p.m.
He is facing a class D felony of DWI as a persistent offender, and a Class D felony charge of escape from custody. Labrasca is being held on a $50,000 only cash bond.
