Shannan Picked to Play at Heartland Baseball Classic

Ben Shannan, a senior at Scotland County R-I High School, has been selected to compete at the Blue-Grey Classic all-star baseball game on the campus of Missouri Western University later this month.
Shannan will be one of 108 baseball prospects to compete, representing northeast Missouri after a stellar 2011 season. Shannan was an all-state performer for the Tigers, posting a 7-2 record with a 1.14 ERA. He allowed only 9 earned runs in 55 innings of work. He surrendered just 28 hits while walking 27 batters and striking out 82.
The Classic draws recruiters from as many as 40 colleges as well as a number of Major League Baseball scouts. The event has been a tremendous recruiting forum for baseball prospects from the Heartland over the past 21years.
Shannan will be traveling to St. Joseph on August 27th and 28th for the event. He will turn in his shoulder pads from his high school football game Friday for the ball glove and bat for the two-day classic to showcase his baseball talents for the collegiate and professional scouts.
