BETTY JANE HOBART
Mrs. Betty Jane Hobart, 86, formerly of Mt. Pleasant and New London, Iowa, died August 30, 2010 at Francis Home in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Betty was born May 14, 1924 in Anita, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse R. and JoHannah T. Petersen Chapman. The family moved to Clark County in 1936 first near Fox City-then south of Kahoka and then to the family farm two miles east of Granger around 1938.
She married Loren Keith Hobart on January 18, 1943 in Memphis, Missouri and he died on August 17, 2007. They lived most of their married life in New London.
She was a 1942 graduate of Granger High School and spent most of her life as a homemaker but also worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, New London Nursing Center and Geode Café. She was a member of the New London United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter Shirley (Bob) Sinclair of Racine, Wisconsin; a son Loren K. (Janese) Hobart, Jr. of Palm Bay, Florida; a brother Jack (Darlene) Chapman of Union, MO; a niece Shelly Chapman of Union, MO; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and ten step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Mary A. Chapman in 1931, and a grandson.
Burial was in the Long Creek Cemetery, rural Danville, Iowa.
