SCR-I Shuts Out Highland in Fourth Quarter En Route to 43-42 Win
The Lady Tigers stellar defense stepped it up Tuesday night at Highland pitching a shutout in the fourth period to help Scotland County erase a five point deficit to knock off the Cougars 43-42.
Scotland County had one of its best offensive quarters of the season, opening with 17 points in the first period to lead 17-13. The guard play was key as Cali Holt, Skyler Alderton and Courtney Jackson combined for 11 points in the opening frame.
But Highland went on a 19-8 run in the second period to lead 32-25 at halftime.
Anna Duley knocked down a three pointer and Jamie Shaw had eight points in the third period as SCR-I trimmed the deficit to 42-37.
Thatís when the defense stepped up for SCR-I. Highland did not score a single point in the fourth period, and never even attempted a free throw as the Lady Tigers dominated.
Skyler Alderton hit a big three pointer for SCR-I and Jamie Shaw had a field goal and made one of two free throws to make the difference in the contest.
Shaw finished with 13 points to pace Scotland County, which improved to 5-1 on the season. Alderton added 11 points and Jackson and Ashely Tague each finished with five points.
