Lady Tigers Move Up in Conference Standings With 64-48 Win Over Milan
Scotland County moved up a notch in the Tri-Rivers Conference standings on February 10th with a hard-fought 64-48 victory at Milan.
The Lady Tigers led just 13-10 after the first period as former SCR-I coach Andrea Dabney piloted one of the most improved teams in the league to a good start.
Scotland County put some distance between itself and the Wildcats in the second period. Deidra Dochterman knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and Kelsey Frazier and Kaitlin Caldwell both had a pair of field goals during the 16-8 run that allowed SCR-I to pull ahead 29-18 at the intermission.
Caldwell poured in six third period points as SCR-I continued to add to the advantage. Dochterman connected from behind the arc again as Scotland County built a 43-28 lead to end the third period.
Valerie Oldham and Melissa Cotton got their team off to a fast start in the final quarter. The seniors combined for eight points to help put the game away early in the fourth period. Jamie Shaw scored nine fourth period points as the Lady Tigers exploded for 21 points in the game’s final eight minutes.
Caldwell finished with 13 points to lead Scotland County (13-8, 2-3 TRC) to the win. Dochterman finished with 12 points and Frazier and Shaw each pitched in with nine points. Cotton finished with eight points and Oldham had seven points for the well-balanced offensive attack.
Milan (6-11, 0-4 TRC) was led in scoring by Carly Bohle with 12 points. Jordan Dunlap had 11 points and Kayla Fleshman finished with 10 points.
