Downing Man Flown From Crash Scene
A Downing man was flown from the scene of a two vehicle accident in rural Scotland County on November 24th. The collision occurred at an unmarked intersection on Elder Road, approximately 3 miles east of Downing at 12:56 p.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Eric M. Bowens, 22 of Downing was westbound in a 1992 Ford pickup. Gary A. Ahrens, 57, of Downing was eastbound in a 2000 Chevrolet pickup. After the Ahrens vehicle made a left hand turn it was struck by the Bowens vehicle.
Gary Ahrens suffered moderate injuries. He was flown from the scene by Air Evac helicopter to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. A passenger in the vehicle, Keith E. Ahrens, 28, sustained minor injuries and was to seek his own treatment. Bowens was not injured.
The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Ambulance Service, Scotland County Sheriff’s Department and the fire and rescue squads from Downing and Scotland County.
