Swim Team Wraps Up Successful 2008 Season

The Memphis Swim Team, as part of the Can-Oka (Canton/Kahoka) Swim Team, competed in their last swim competition of the season on August 2. The River Country Swim League Championships were held in Hannibal this year. Teams competing at the finals were Can-Oka, Hannibal, Pittsfield, Quincy Country Club, and Quincy Sheridan Swim Club. By a slim margin, Can-Oka was the team winner of the competition. Following are the Memphis swimmers’ performances; athletes had to place in the top 12 in their event to receive recognition.

Sadie Davis (7-8 age division)—3rd, Girls Freestyle Relay; 9th, 50-yard Freestyle.

Shelby Eggleston (11-12)—7th, Mixed Freestyle Relay; 11th, Backstroke; 10th, Butterfly.

Renay Friendshuh (11-12)—10th, Backstroke; 4th, Breaststroke; 5th, Butterfly; 1st, Mixed Medley Relay.

Hilary Harris (13-14)—2nd, Mixed Freestyle Relay; 10th, Breaststroke.

Olivia Harris (11-12)—7th, Mixed Freestyle Relay; 4th, Backstroke; 12th, 100-yard Freestyle.

Claire Hite (6 & Under)—1st, Mixed Freestyle Relay; 3rd, Backstroke; 3rd, Butterfly; 5th, 25-yard Freestyle.

Joseph Hite (11-12)—7th, Mixed Freestyle Relay; 11th, Backstroke; 12th, 100-yard Freestyle; 12th, Breaststroke.

Lydia Hunt (7-8)—1st, Girls Freestyle Relay; 3rd, Backstroke; 5th, 50-yard Freestyle; 5th, Butterfly; 8th, 25-yard Freestyle.

Jacob Kapfer (7-8)—9th, Backstroke; 6th, Breaststroke; 7th, Mixed Medley Relay.

Brady Kice (7-8)—8th, Butterfly; 7th, Mixed Medley Relay.

Megan Kice (9-10)—3rd, Girls Freestyle Relay.

Ian See (9-10)—8th, Backstroke; 8th, Breaststroke; 3rd, Mixed Medley Relay.

Stevi See (7-8)—1st, Girls Freestyle Relay; 3rd, 50-yard Freestyle; 4th, Breaststroke; 6th, Butterfly; 4th, 25-yard Freestyle.
