Viola Mae March, 92, of Kahoka, MO, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
She was born February 16, 1916 in Nebraska City, Nebraska, the daughter of William and Anna Mae Orton Ransford. On August 29, 1932, she was united in marriage to Frank Wood. To this union two children were born. She was then united in marriage to Elza March on May 17, 1941 in Kirksville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1995.
Viola was a farmerís wife and a mother to her children and her half-brothers and sisters. She resided most of her life in Clark and Scotland counties. She enjoyed gardening and reading, but most of all she loved her family and being with them and helping them anyway that she could.
She was baptized at the age of nine in the Christian Church in Memphis, Missouri.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Ann Rose and her husband Marshall of Donnellson, IA, four sons, Jerry March of Quincy, IL, Jack March and his wife Diana of Luray, MO, Buddy Wood of Kahoka, MO, and Billy Wood and his wife Ruth Ann of Kearney, MO, eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, two half-brothers, Harry Lee Ransford and his wife Mary, of Memphis, MO, Frank Ransford of Burlington, IA, two half-sisters, Mary Frances Orton of Memphis, MO, and Terri Scheurer of Boca Raton, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Maxine Ransford, a grandson, James Wood, a granddaughter, Rebecca Laymon, son-in-law, Clifford Laymon, daughter-in-law, Josephine Wood, two great-grandchildren, a half-brother Arthur Ransford, and a brother-in-law, Fred Orton.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 6th at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO. Burial was in the Bible Grove Cemetery in Baring, MO.
