Eighth Grade Boys End 2006 Season In Style
The Scotland County eighth grade boys basketball team finished the 2006 season on a high note, bringing home a trophy from the Schuyler County Tournament. Overall the team went 6-8 on the season.
The year started with a 40-9 loss to Clark County. Rod Sears and Chris Doubet combined to score all of SCR-Iís points.
The offense looked better in game two, but SCR-I fell to Canton 54-27 despite nine points from Bryce Smith and eight from Sears.
Putnam County made it a three-game losing streak with a 37-30 defeat on November 1st. Logan Brassfield paced the Tigers with 11 points and Smith and Sears each had six points and Dakota Wells added five.
Scotland County got into the win column with a 39-33 win over Schuyler County. Brassfield led the way with 13 points. Smith added seven points and Doubet and Kasey Dial each had six.
Clark County dropped the Tigers to 1-4 on the year with a 40-10 defeat. Doubet led SCR-I with four points.
The Tigers rebounded with a 34-26 victory over Milan on November 14th. Smith topped the scorebook with 12 points while Brassfield added 10.
Brassfield poured in a team-high 17 points but it wasnít enough as Putnam County outlasted the Tigers 50-42 in Unionville. Smith finished with 10 points and Zach Anderson added six.
The Tigers rallied from a fourth quarter deficit to defeat Schuyler County 35-24 on November 17th. Smith led the way with 14 points while Brassfield had eight and Dial added six.
The Tigers made it two in a row with a 23-17 win over North Shelby. Brassfield had 12 points to lead all scorers.
Scotland County suffered through its second three game losing streak with defeats at the hands of Putnam County (57-34), Knox County (40-39) and Schuyler County (39-28).
Smith and Brassfield combined for 22 points in the loss to the Midgets. The Eagles erased a 4th period deficit to beat SCR-I despite 14 points from Smith, nine from Dial and seven from Wells.
Scotland County came back to end the year on a two-game winning streak. The Tigers topped Knox County 34-33 behind a balanced scoring attack. Smith had 10 points while Brassfield and Dial each added eight points.
The Tigers capped off the year with a 41-33 victory over Milan. Smith led the way with 15 and Brassfield had 13.
