KENNETH CARSON ELLIOTT

Kenneth Carson Elliott, 75, of Memphis, MO, passed away on December 19, 2007, at his home in Memphis, MO.
Kenneth was born on February 21, 1932, in Scotland County, MO, the son of Ray and Pearl Wells Elliott.
He graduated from Memphis High School in 1950.
He married Shirley McCoy, September 15, 1957, and to this union three children were born.
Kenneth worked for James O. Cone driving a truck for about six months, before entering the Army in 1952 he was discharged in 1954. After he returned home from the Army he continued working for James O. Cone until March 1987. He then went to work for Heartland Express of Iowa City, IA until December 1994 when he retired. He and his wife worked four summers from 1996-1999 as Fee Attendants for the Corps of Engineers Parks at Lake Red Rock in Iowa. They also spent eight winters in Harlingen, TX.
He also enjoyed working on Go Carts for his grandchildren and going to watch them race. On May 5, 2007 he witnessed his oldest granddaughter’s graduation and receiving her Doctorate of Pharmacy in Kansas City, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Vada Herring, brother-in-law June Herring, nephew George M. Herring, and grandson, Lonnie G. Elliott.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley of Memphis, MO; one daughter, Janice Grosenkemper and husband, Jerry of Memphis, MO; two sons, Gale Elliott of Memphis, MO and Greg Elliott and his wife, Tammy of Downing, MO; four grandchildren, Michell Grosenkemper of Anchorage, AK, Autumn, Dakota and Shyla Elliott, all of Downing, MO; two brothers-in-law, Richard McCoy and wife, Kari of West Burlington, IA and Robert McCoy and wife, Mary of Esterville, IA, and one niece, Mary Beth (Herring) Hoyt.
The family has suggested memorials to the Scotland County Cancer Fund or Hospice of Northeast Missouri, and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.
Funeral services were held December 22, 2007, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO with Brother Jack Sumption, officiating. Musicians were Ann Luther, organist, and Candace Dodge and Kathy Gardner, vocalists. Pallbearers were Mike Aylward, Kenny Hauk, Rob Farley, Ronnie Peterson, Jim Elliott, Pat McCoy, Duane McDonald, and Scot Roberson. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Hall, Keith Chance, Joe Tom Walker, Floyd Walker, Bill Atwater, and Loren Wickert. Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO.
