GENEVIEVE (JENNY) RUTH PETERSON GARRETT
(10/14/1919 – 3/23/2007)
Genevieve (Jenny) Ruth Peterson Garrett, was born on October 14, 1919, to John and Emma Harl Peterson in Davis County, IA. She passed away March 23, 2007, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.
On February 3, 1945, she married Melvin Drummond and to this union two children were born. Melvin preceded her in death in January 1969. On November 15, 1971, she married Fred T. Scott, he preceded her in death in January of 1972. September 8, 1976, she married Wm. Mansel Garrett. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2005.
She leaves her two children, Marcia Rankin and husband, John of Poplar Grove, IL and Mike Drummond and wife, Jeanie of Memphis, MO; step-son, Jerry Garrett of Memphis, and step-daughter, Sharon Hicks and husband, Paul of Des Moines, IA; five grandchildren, Matthew Rankin and wife, Karli of Poplar Grove, IL, Jared Drummond of Columbia, MO, Mark Drummond and fiancee, Jenny Stone of Warrensburg, MO, Dawn Miller and husband, Rob of Memphis, MO, and Corvin Drummond and fiancee, Ashley Riesz of Memphis, MO; three step-grandchildren, Eric Blesie, Tonia Jansen, and Eric Hicks; four great-grandchildren, Megan, Abigail, and Riley Rankin and Carson Miller; two step-great-grandchildren, Kendell Jansen and Ethan Blesie; several nieces and nephews, and one sister-in-law, Marjorie Peterson of Memphis, MO.
She resided in Scotland County most of her life and was a member of the First Christian Church for many years.
Jenny was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Madeline Conaway; and three brothers, Paul, Malcolm, and Gerald Peterson.
Memorials are suggested to the Shiloh Christian Children’s Ranch and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, MO 63555.
Funeral services were held on March 26, 2007, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, with Bro. Jack Sumption officiating. Pallbearers were Matthew Rankin, Jared Drummond, Mark Drummond, Corvin Drummond, Rob Miller, and Eric Blesie. Arrangements were handled by the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
