SCR-I School Board Fills Two Vacancies During Special Meeting
The Scotland County R-I Board of Education filled a pair of vacancies in the district during a special meeting on July 17th.
In executive session, the board voted 6-0 to offer employment to Carl Trueblood as the districtís new transportation superintendent. Former transportation director Dennis Robertson resigned earlier in the month to take a similar position with a school district in Kansas City.
The district also filled a vacancy in the elementary school. The Board voted 5-0-1 to employ Lori Bish as a sixth grade teacher for the 2007-08 school year. Scott Brassfield, Bill Cottrell, Gary Miller, George Kootnz and Stacy Westhoff voted yes and Stacy Alexander abstained from the vote. Paul Campbell was absent from the meeting.
Earlier in the month, the district agreed to enter a contract for the installation of a new fire alarm system in the high school and surrounding buildings. The work will be done by Fire Safety Systems. In order to begin the project, the company requires partial payment up front, with the remainder due upon the completion of the installation. The Board voted 6-0 to approve the pre-payment of $5,755 to Fire Safety Systems.
