Search For Missing Boy Ends Quickly
A report of a missing boy sent dozens of volunteers into action on a cold, rainy Saturday evening in Scotland County.
Searchers from the local fire departments, sheriff’s department and other emergency service workers converged on a home on Highway 136 six miles east of Memphis after an 11-year-old Colorado boy was reported missing from the residence at 6:30 p.m.
The boy’s family reported the youth had left the residence approximately one hour earlier without shoes or a coat.
Searchers began to comb the farm and adjoining ground before learning the youngster had been located at 6:59 p.m. at a neighbor’s residence.
“We met at the property and had just completed organizing the searchers five minutes earlier when we were notified that the boy had been found at a neighbor’s down the road,” stated Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Whitney.
