Carnahan Awards Grant To SCR-I To Preserve History
Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan’s office announced recently that the Scotland County R-I School District received a Local Records Preservation Grant in the amount of $13,173. The grant will be used to create a microfilm collection of permanent records.
“We are pleased to support this collaborative effort to protect these important records that tell the stories of Missourians and their local governments, one community at a time,” said Carnahan. “They are an invaluable resource for scholars, researchers, historians and countless individuals.”
The Secretary of State’s Local Records Preservation Grant initiative is funded through user fees collected by Recorder of Deeds’ offices. More than $5 million dollars has been distributed to support local public records management and preservation since the program’s inception in 1991.
A total of $355,674 was awarded to 44 counties, cities and school districts for the 2007 fiscal year.
