Third Quarter Spurt Paves Way For Lady Tigers Win Over Rams
After seeing the lead go back and forth during the contestís first 16 minutes, the Scotland County Lady Tigers took charge of the December 6th contest versus Schuyler County courtesy of a 28-10 run in the third period.
That proved to be more than enough as SCR-I cruised to the 74-53 victory with the young seasonís most prolific scoring display.
Nicole Winkler helped Schuyler County get out of the gates quickly as the Rams led 8-4 early on. The Lady Tigers trailed by four points for most of the first period before Jamie Fuller and Jessica Bair hit back-to-back shots to close the quarter with the score tied at 16-16.
The lead went back and forth in the second period before a bucket from Kirsten Johnston put SCR-I on top 28-27 at the intermission.
Angie Bulen took charge in the third period as she scored nine of her game-high 21 points during the key Scotland County run. Bair and Ashlee Frederick each hit key three pointers and Kaela Cook had a pair of buckets to help fuel the run that saw SCR-I go up by 19 points heading into the final eight minutes.
Ali Fromm drilled a pair of three pointers in the fourth period to prevent any chance of a Schuyler County rally as the Lady Tigers rolled to the 21-point win.
