Canton Spoils Lady Tigers’ Senior Night

Scotland County made a late charge to overcome a 9-1 deficit but ultimately dropped its 2005 softball home finale to Canton 9-5 on senior night.

Several fielding miscues helped Canton jump on top 4-1 in the fourth inning. The Tigers blew the game open with four more runs in the fifth frame.

It was 9-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh when the Lady Tigers made one last stand. With one out Jamie Fuller doubled and scored on a double by Deidra Dochterman. Jessica Bair made it three in a row, with a two bagger to plate Dochterman. Bair scored on a base hit by Ali Fromm. Lacey Jack and Angie Bulen continued the rally but Canton’s Hillary Alderton struck out Monica Schmitz and Brandi Kapfer to end the threat.
