Speedway To Host 2nd Annual Car Show On Memphis Square
While race car drivers prefer the banked turns of the oval track, many of the local favorites will be bringing their rides to the Memphis City Square for the 2nd Annual Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway Race Car Show to be held Saturday, March 19th.
The event gets underway at 10:00 a.m. and will conclude at 3:00 p.m. with a number of prize drawings for car owners and fans. Free pit passes and grandstand passes will be given away courtesy of the United States Racing Association, promoters Todd and Janet Staley and the promotion team of Ed Sheckler and Brian Neal. There will also be a number of drawings for prizes courtesy of Pepsi-Cola Memphis Bottling Company.
In its inaugural year, the car show brought nearly 40 racers to the square, giving fans plenty to see and allowing young and old alike the opportunity to mingle with some of their favorite drivers.
There will be a food booth, a Relay for Life fund raiser, all day and Chuck Kigar will have a portable public address system on site and will be doing interviews with drivers and fans throughout the day.
The Scotland County Speedway team will have an information booth to distribute track rules and regulations, 2005 schedules, to register cars and also to sell season passes.
The first racing action at the speedway will be J&J Ag/Travel Connection’s two-day race April 22-23 when the O’Reilly Auto Parts United Modified Touring Series makes its first visit to Memphis. The weekly points races will begin April 30th.
