High Winds Blamed For Cornfield Fire

The Scotland County Fire Department responded to a cornfield fire at the Sterling Martin residence north of Memphis at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, October 16th.

Windy conditions spread sparks from a trash barrel that then ignited a cut cornfield east of the residence.

The fire department was able to quickly extinguish the blaze and was on the scene for less than 20 minutes.
