Gorin Teen Facing Felony Gun Charges
A Gorin teenager is facing felony charges after being arrested for possessing a firearm on the Scotland County R-I High School property on April 27.
The Scotland County Sheriff’s Department received an anonymous tip that an SCR-I student had a pistol in his vehicle, which was parked in the school parking lot.
Officers responded to the school and a search of the student’s vehicle uncovered a loaded .22 –caliber pistol. In addition the vehicle search uncovered a substance believed to be marijuana.
Chris Armstrong, 19, was arrested and is facing a Class D felony charge of possessing a firearm on school property. He also faces misdemeanor charges for possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana.
He is being held in the Scotland County Jail on $10,000 cash bond.
At the time of his arrest, Armstrong was served a warrant for his arrest on felony charges of attempted burglary and property damage in the first degree stemming from his alleged involvement in an attempted break-in at Rossi Gun Shop on August 1, 2003.
