Chase Ends In Scotland County With Drug Arrest
A Schuyler County man was apprehended in Scotland County following a 30-minute vehicle chase that involved officers from five different law enforcement agencies January 13.
Rusty L. Rouse, 28, of Queen City, faces a number of felony theft and drug charges after a Missouri Highway Patrolman spotted him entering a truck parked next to an anhydrous ammonia tank north of Wyaconda in Clark County.
Rouse refused to stop for the patrolman and a chase ensued beginning on Route A. Officers from the Clark County and Scotland County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call and assisted the trooper as Rouse’s truck entered Scotland County. The pursuit carried over onto Route U before eventually turning onto a gravel road where Rouse apparently lost control of his truck and crashed into a ditch. He was taken into custody in the region south of Ella Ewing Lake.
Officers from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department and North Missouri Drug Task Force also assisted in the arrest.
Rouse reportedly had stolen anhydrous ammonia from the tank and placed it in a cooler that was located in his possession.
He faces class B felony charges of stealing anhydrous ammonia, and releasing anhydrous ammonia into the atmosphere as well as the class D felony of possession of anhydrous ammonia in an unapproved container.
Rouse was arraigned January 14 in the Clark County Court by Judge John Moon.
