Gorin Basketball News
Gorin junior high teams played at Wyaconda on November 15. Playing only two quarters, the girls were evenly matched with Gorin coming out the victors by a score of 10 to nine. Danielle Clark and Christina Vassholz combined for Gorin's points. Many of Christina's points were from playmaker assists from Danielle.
In the boys' game, every Gorin player scored in a losing effort against the Wildcats. Dwayne Poil showed excellent effort making 11 points, pulling down several rebounds, and making three of his five free throws. Dustin Roach scored eight points, Brandon Dale contributed four, and Mitchell Tague, Eric Masden, Tommy Swanson, and Joshua Harper each scored two. The final score was 59 to 31.
On November 19 at Gorin, Gorin played Mary Immaculate from Kirksville. Danielle Clark, Christina Vassholz, Teel Asher, and Amanda Parks combined to tally 13 points for Gorin while Kirksville came away with 40.
The Gorin boys came out running scoring 14 points in each of the first two quarters while holding Mary Immaculate to 24. Kirksville wore the bulldogs down; however, in the second half with many substitutes and four three-pointers. They outscored Gorin in the second half making 29 points to Gorin's 16. The final score was Mary Immaculate 53, Gorin 44. Dustin Roach, Mitchell Tague, and Dwayne Poil each scored in double figures. Eric Masden contributed four points, Brandon Dale made two, and Tommy Swanson added a three-pointer all for Gorin.
The next game for Gorin is against Luray at Gorin on November 29. Grades Kinder-garten - fourth go to the Little Dribblers Tourney at Luray on November 30.
