Christmas Tree Blamed For House Fire In Memphis
A Christmas tree was to blame for a late night fire that damaged a Memphis man's home. The Scotland County Fire Department responded to a call at approximately 11:00 p.m. December 22 of smoke coming from the Jason Moss residence at 136 N. Johnson Street.
Upon arrival the firemen found the living room area involved in the blaze that centered around the northeast wall area where it was believed the fire had started. The flames were quickly extinguished. The fire damage was limited to the living room area, but the rest of the home sustained smoke and heat damage.
More than a dozen firemen responded to the call with five fire trucks at the scene. They were assisted by the Memphis Police Department, the Scotland County Sheriff's Department and the Scotland County Ambulance Service.
