Fire Department Douses Grass Fire At Gray Residence
The Scotland County Fire Department responded to a grass fire at the Rod Gray residence north of Memphis at 4:40 p.m. March 25.
The department initially responded with the "brush truck" unit as Gray is not a member of the fire corporation. The fire spread onto a neighboring property owned by John Eggleston, a member of the fire corporation, resulting in the dispatch of the fire departments remaining vehicles.
The fire consumed several acres of grassland before being brought under control by the firemen. The department was on the scene for approximately 90 minutes.
